Saddles - There's a variety of different kinds of saddle, all of which have distinct safety features that are specifically designed for certain disciplines. Here are a few of the most popular types:

Western Saddle - A wide rectangular seat with long flaps at the pommel and girth made of leather or synthetic material. It is typically covered with padding and features a wide cross-band.

English Saddle - These are very similar to Western Saddles, but they are smaller and have smaller flaps on either side. They have a wide cross-band and are generally covered with soft leather or fabric.

Jumping Saddle (Close Contact). This saddle has a flat seat with panels that are cut forwards. It is designed primarily to jump. To aid the rider to keep their legs in the correct posture, it could include knee rolls in the front and thigh rolls behind.

Dressage Saddle The saddle features an extremely deep seat as well as straight-cut flaps. It is a very comfortable saddle for both the horse and rider, but it can be costly to purchase.

Martingales Martingales - These are utilized by riders to control the horse's movement, give them leverage and sometimes to improve the reaction of the reins or bit. They can be affixed to the chest ring at the center of a breastplate, or to the girth in case no breastplate is used.
